NGANGA

Chair

The third in the Metamorphosis Series, Nganga is made with hundreds of pills (medicine) and a Thonet No.16 chair. The Metamorphosis Series takes the iconic Thonet bentwood chair and transforms it into something new, giving it new life and meaning.

Nganga means herbalist or medicine man in the Kongo language of the tropical central African region. The chair brings attention to our over consumption, interdependence and even addiction to pharmaceutical products that many of us take because the doctor prescribed them, without questioning their efficacy or side effects.

All of the chairs of the Metamorphosis series are one-of-a-kind/collector's pieces
